Join the Trustees of Reservations at  the Crane Wildlife Refuge in Ipswich Massachusetts in search of the Snowy Owl!

Join The Trustees of Reservations at Crane Wildlife Refuge on the Crane Estate in search of the Snowy Owl! Wide-open coastal sites are the location of choice for wintering Snowy Owls; common perches are dunes and salt hay staddles. In winters past, the owls have been frequent visitors to the Crane Wildlife Refuge. Join us as we hike the dunes in search of these magnificent birds. Unlike most owls, snowy owls are diurnal (they hunt and are active both day and night) so we have a good chance of sighting one even in the daylight hours!

In most cases it used to describe a measurement that is tiny beyond human perception. NanoDays is a nationwide celebration of nanoscale science, and you're invited! Come celebrate at the Museum of Science and enjoy nano-related activities throughout the Exhibit Halls, including the special events listed below.

Pasta Making for Kids with Chef Swansan

Learn to Play the Harmonica

Kids ages 8 and up and adults will learn to play the harmonica at the Manchester Public Library

Musicians Mike and Beverly Rogers will be at the Manchester Public Library on Saturday, January 26th, 11 AM with a Harmonica Workshop for adults and children ages 8 and older. Everyone attending will not only hear the harmonica stylings of this musical duo, but will receive a harmonica lesson at the workshop to get you started with your very own harmonica to take home!

Family Nature Night: Half-Moon Stroll

Hike to Spencer Peirce-Little Farm in Newburyport Massachusetts with the Mass Audubon under the half moon.

Join naturalists from Joppa Flats Education Center on a nocturnal hike and learn about nocturnal animal senses, the moon, and the stars! We'll go on a short walk to Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm's back field to stargaze before returning to Joppa Flats' back yard for hot cocoa around the fire pit.

Sweet as Pie Workshop at Appleton Farms

Appleton Farms in Ipswich Massachsuetts hosts a pie making as part of Appleton Cooks!

Its pie time and we have you covered for the Thanksgiving holiday!  Come to the farm kitchen to learn all the basics for making delicious country-style pies including techniques on tender pie crust, rolling & assembly, and proper baking.…..all while keeping it fun, simple, and stress-free.  Everyone will make & take home an unbaked 9" deep dish Apple-Cranberry Pie to bake for the holiday!  Plus, we'll savor and share the recipe for another seasonal pie favorite! Additional pie recipes will be included in the recipe book, and class will enjoy coffee & pie at the end of the workshop. BYOB is allowed.
