Adventure Day: Digging in the Dirt

Kids will explore the IRWS and find out what lives in the soil there!

Kids will get their hands dirty and dig into the science of soil at this April vacation session. Meet the critters of the sanctuary that call dirt home. Worms, millipedes, sow bugs, weasels, and voles are a few soil creatures that we will hope to see. Find out what it takes to make a garden grow, before preparing and planting your own take-home garden.

Looking for stuff to do during April Vacation on the North Shore? Peabody Essex Museum has a fabulous line-up of fun activities, performances and tours for kids and families. Explore movement and sound through the Nick Cave exhibit, art and textile activities, story times, gallery tours and live performances! Come to PEM to create memorable family experiences that will keep minds engaged and hands busy during school break!

Adventure Day: Wonderful Wings

Kids will explore and learn about the winged creatures of IRWS for Spring break

Kids will learn about the winged creatures that inhabit the sanctuary at this vacation week program. Spring is in full swing and all our flying friends are in a frenzy. If it has wings, we'll find it, and learn about the different ways creatures use their wings. Using binoculars, nets, and bug boxes, we'll take an up-close look at birds, dragonflies, butterflies, and other insects that make their homes at the sanctuary.

Buds are a certain sign of Spring, and appear magically at the turn of the Seaso

Joppa Flats Education Center offers April vacation programs offering a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities - keeping minds active and hands busy during school break! Come all day or as your schedule allows! This Vacation Week Flyby will focus on the birds and Spring buds.

Snakes of New England at Pathways

Come to a Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team presentation of 'Snakes of New England' at the The Open Door meeting space on Emerson Avenue! At this Pathways for Children hosted event, kids will learn all about the habitat and lives of snakes from New England from Rick Roth, Executive Director of the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team . Live local and exotic animals will be presented, and those who attend will have the opportunity to see these creatures close up! Monster Mash

Get your Monster on at Wenham Museum during this April Vacation Event!

Wenham Museum invites you to come in costume, as a monster, dragon or dinosaur and hear frightfully fun stories, create monster print art and play silly monster games. Explore Wenham Museum’s spring exhibits: 'Draw Me a Story: Paper Monsters' with Ed and Rebecca Emberley a display of lively monster art and 'Pop Goes the Book!' an exhibit of engaging pop-up books.  All Ages.

Appleton's April Vacation Farmhands Crew

Join the farmhand crew to work along side the staff at Appleton Farms.

Calling volunteers ages 13 and up! Join the farmhand crew to work along side our staff and gain first hand experience with our milking herd, our calving season and our seeding and planting season for the Communtiy Supported Agriculture program.  This crew will dig in and have plenty of fun on the farm, while helping our busy farmers prepare for summer!

April Vacation 2012: Farm School

Things to do with children during April Vacation with North Shore Children

Attend Spring Farm School at Green Meadows Farm and see the new chickens laying, the baby lambs romping, the winter pigs rooting and the seedlings sprouting in the greenhouses we just finished recovering. April vacation is the perfect time to really see a burst of spring. Walk around the farm, listen to the birds, look for bugs and maybe even gather a few fresh eggs. The farm stand will be open also in case you need milk, honey, meat... or whatever wonderful food you have been missing.

This program is free and all ages welcome. Please contact GMF to sign up.

April Vacation LEGO Workshop - Morning Session

Kids will build a LEGO train and at the Wenham Museum during Spring Break!

Design teams build a LEGO train layout including a city complete with trains, buildings, vehicles, tunnels, mountains, towers, bridges and moving structures with LEGO engineering instructor Jo-Ann Gorrell.
