Come to the Emma Andrews Library and Community Center to enjoy a painting demonstration by local artist Anne Recchia. A member of the Newburyport Art Association, Anne has worked for many years in watercolor and has recently started working in oils. Known for painting evocative scenes of the New England coast, her work is in many private and public collections. Join her during Clothing Drive to Benefit Wellspring for a painting demonstration, hopefully outdoors, of the facade of the Emma Andrews Library.
Camilla MacFadyen is back at Maritime Gloucester to produce another community art project using collography print making techniques! Families are invited to a three day workshop, where participants will create textile prints and printed silk fish to be used in the construction of an environmental art piece on the docks for public viewing during the Gloucester Schooner Festival 2019! This years' planned project will result in an environmental art piece that will consisit o f a series of floor-to-ceiling 'sails' on display at the Maritime Gloucester Boat Shop.

The Ipswich Museum will host a summer art workshop, titled Coastal Culture, as part of its annual “Art in August” series. Maritime Gloucester kicks off Shark Week with a great experiential learning craft that's as fun as it is educational! Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in the Shark Week Chalkquarium! Drop by for this free event to draw a "Great White Chalk" and other life-sized sharks and rays on the pavement around Maritime Gloucester! The Zuni and other Pueblo Indians carve animals small enough to fit into their pockets. They believe these connect the humans who carry them to the spirit of the animals they represent.
This fun and engaging exhibit explores the world of pop-up books through an amazing array of pop-ups on display as well as hands-on opportunities for you to make your own pop-ups, be a character in a giant interactive pop-up book, and an exploration of the history and mechanics of pop-up creations.
