Join The Trustees of Reservations for a leisurely hike through the dunes of the Crane Wildlife Refuge to celebrate the winter solstice. On this, the shortest day of the year, we'll take advantage of the dark with a stroll beneath the stars. We'll warm up after our walk with hot cider and refreshments in the Tavern at the Inn at Castle Hill. The perfect balance to counteract the bustle of the holiday season!
View the Sargent House in all its holiday splendor while sharing in the joy of the season with tasty holiday treats and music performed by the Rockport High School Madrigal Choir from 2-3PM. Activities will include Colonial living history demonstrations, kid's crafts, a special holiday themed exhibit, seasonal refreshments - including everything from gingerbread to hot wassail!
Bring the kids! Make a postcard inspired by the Museum’s collection of historic cards written by vacationers telling of their adventures on Cape Ann. The second Saturday of every month is free for families with school-aged children. Families are invited to the Activity Center to participate in hands-on activities that delve into the art, history and culture of the region. Each Second Saturday focuses on a specific theme based on the Museum’s collection and/or special exhibitions.
Join The Trustees of Reservations on an exploration of the dunes at the Crane Wildlife Refuge in ipswich! This hike explores the wild wonders of the dune trails through the Crane Wildlife Refuge, from the Crane Beach parking area to Essex Point and back again! We'll launch our long walk at the dunes trailhead, and make our way along the backside of Crane Beach, then tuck into the dunes again to reach Essex Point. A bag lunch prepared by Ferreira Foods of Salem will be delivered to us at the approximate halfway point. Come prepared for a leisurely long-way-around walk of about 8 miles!
