The Massachusetts Cultural Council is presenting a showcase concert featuring the excellence and diversity of music and dance traditions thriving in Massachusetts today. Performers are past or current recipients of an Artist Fellowship or Traditional Arts Apprenticeship, prestigious awards from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Come experience a Dominican carnival procession, then be enthralled by leading exponents of South Indian vocals, violin, and percussion, West African balafon (xylophone), djembe drum, and ceremonial dance, and Irish flute, uilleann pipe and old style step dance.
“Ask Me to Sing” – a concert featuring selections that range from Bach to Broadway. The Honors Youth Choir of Chorus North Shore is an outstanding group of talented young musicians. The choir is fully funded, allowing students ages ten through high school the opportunity to learn and perform choral masterworks and present extraordinary concerts. The singers are selected by audition from communities throughout the North Shore.
From the four corners of the planet, the love of percussion and performance has brought together Marcelina Suchocka (Poland), Aya Kaminaguchi (Japan), Clara Warnaar (Canada-United States), and Mariana Ramirez (Mexico) as the Excelsis Percussion Quartet. These amazing women, hailing from four different countries and speaking four different languages, blend their talents to speak the universal language of rhythm with innovative perception. EXCELSIS invites the world into a celebration of percussion with its pageantry of marimbas, drums, cymbals, xylophones, and vibraphones.
The Cabot Theatre in Beverly welcomes Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys as part of their Family Series concerts. Vanessa Trien has been performing music for kids and families since 2005, many of those years in collaboration with her lively folk/roots/pop band, the Jumping Monkeys. She has three Parents' Choice award-winning CDs for kids and families and is currently working on her fourth album, due out this winter. Vanessa packs concert halls, preschool fundraisers and outdoor venues with dancing kids and families.

Historic New England welcomes family favorite Herrmann's Royal Lipizzan Stallions for a special engagement at Cogswell's Grant . The famous Lipizzan stallions are returning to perform three shows at Cogswell's Grant. The horses of the Herrmann line are among the last capable of executing the "Airs Above the Ground" maneuvers, the dramatic leaps and plunges developed as aggressive battle maneuvers in the sixteenth century, and now a beautiful display of equine grace and strength.
