The Ipswich River Watershed Association’s headquarters at Riverbend is a great place to paddle and explore the river! This event is a beginner, family friendly paddle on pond-like conditions open to all ages and abilities. Our route will depend on water levels but plan on at least an hour of paddling. Grab a flashlight and conquer Dragon Quest, Marini Farm’s 2016 eight acre corn maze, after dark.Ten miles of winding paths and mysteries of the dark will confuse and challenge maze adventurers of all ages. Traveling through the maze at night is a totally different experience, which requires more perseverance and focus to get on track in the right direction. Make it a maze party, family outing or social time with your friends, and don’t forget to bring your high powered flashlights to illuminate your way. Dragon Quest is open for flashlight nights on Friday and Saturday nights from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM, starting on September 23rd and continuing through October 29th.

Inspired by the farm’s very own wood-fired Earth Oven, this special workshop celebrates the season with signature recipes featuring the freshest farm ingredients along with all the skills needed to enjoy your own backyard grilling all summer long. Class begins in the farm kitchen with menu preparation, culinary tips, and instruction before heading outdoors to the kitchen patio for fun grilling, dining, and local beer!
The Trustees of Reservations' Appleton Farms in Ipswich Massachusetts will host Graze the North Shore, a food festival in partnership with local restaurants, chefs, brewers, vintners and food makers. As one of the oldest continually operating farms in the country, Appleton is proud to be a part of a sustainable community of food growers and artisans on the North Shore of Massachusetts. This event will help raise awareness of the locavore movement and celebrate the bounty of delicious food being grown, raised, and served in this corner of the state. This event is 21+.

We’ll start with a walk on the beach to find fish, shells and seaweed. Then we’ll head to the Barn to learn how to transfer our treasures to t-shirts and art paper. This free paddling event on the Ipswich River is a relaxed, fun, and family-friendly paddle from the Ipswich River Watershed Association headquarters at Riverbend, right on the river in Ipswich. It is perfect for all ages and levels of paddling experience. You will have the opportunity to learn basic paddling skills, from the proper way to hold a kayak paddle to different ways to steer your canoe.
Join The Trustees of Reservations for a late-night stargazing adventure for the whole family! The Perseids meteor shower is one of the main celestial events of the summer, with peak meteor viewing at up to 60 per hour! Join us for a hike along the Beach – and bring a blanket so you can stretch out on the sand for optimal viewing. We’ll keep our energy up with s’mores and lemonade around a bonfire. Pre-registration is required.
Water telescopes are long tubes with glass at the bottom to view things underwater. Fishermen in Norway have used them for centuries to search for herring and cod. We’ll make our own water telescopes, and then head to the beach to try them out by the tidepools. Who knows what we’ll discover!

Wee Farmers is designed for our 3-4 year old friends who want to explore the farm, meet our animals, and get a taste of what Farm Camp is like at Appleton! Kids will get to dig into life on the farm and lend a helping hand brushing our goats, feeding our bunnies, singing songs, and taste testing in the education garden! Learn about how we grow our vegetables and see how good your senses are with Harvest Blanket. Tour the Cheese Kitchen and learn how sunshine helps to makes our delicious milk. We’ll start our morning with a quick craft and song before venturing out for some farm discovery and nature exploration. This program is perfect for younger siblings who have older siblings signed up for the Appleton Farm Camp and want to join in the fun too!
