Concert: A Far Cry

Enjoy a free performance by 'A Far Cry' at the Shalin Liu Performing Arts Center

Founded in 2007 by 17 young musicians bent on making music according to their own rules, the groundbreaking, self-conducted string orchestra A Far Cry has enjoyed a heady ascent toward the highest ranks of today’s new generation of classical ensembles. Hailed by the Boston Globe as “thrilling,” “intrepid” and “brilliant,” A Far Cry explores the traditional boundaries of classical music, experimenting with the ways it is prepared, performed, and experienced.

The Amazing Kreskin at Shalin Liu

The Amazing Kreskin will perform at the Shalin Liu Center in Rockport!

He already knows what you are thinking! The Amazing Kreskin – “the world’s foremost mentalist” – will amaze you with his uncanny predictions. Kreskin's signature piece is requesting that his check be hidden somewhere within the venue he is appearing. If he fails to find it, he will forfeit his fee. Kreskin continues to offer $50,000 to anybody that can prove that he employs paid secret assistants or confederates in any phase of his program.

Sing along and film screening of 'A Christmas Carol' w/ Alistair Sim as Scrooge.

Enjoy festive holiday cheer with Rockport Music! After the Town of Rockport’s annual Christmas festivities, continue the celebration at the Shalin Liu Performance Center. Sing classic carols in our first Holiday Sing-Along, then enjoy an exclusive screening of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” in the newly restored 1951 version featuring Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge. Boston’s own Frank Avruch, the first nationally syndicated Bozo The Clown, will introduce the film!

The youthful Hausmann Quartet concludes a three-day residency in the Rockport and Gloucester public schools with a concert in the Shalin Liu Performance Center. Bringing the joy of music to individuals of all ages, this Rockport Music event is free and open to the public with general admission seating. No tickets are reservations are required.

Halloween Tea Party and Hayride

Witch Tea Do you Prefer? There's plenty to choose from at Heath's Tea Room...

Children are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costume and bring a favorite Halloween book. Afternoon tea is followed by a 15 minute hayride. Children’s tea includes 2 tea sandwiches, a tea treat and beverage (apple cider or hot chocolate).

Acorn Press Printing Demo

The mid 19th century Acorn Block Press at the Sarah Elizabeth Shop!

Long before desktop publishing and every home having their own printer, printed items were made using bulky printing machines called block printers.  Come see a demonstration of a block press in action at the Sarah Elizabeth Shop in Rockport. The antique Acorn press was made by the Adams brothers of Boston between 1830 to 1870.
