Essex Public Library hosts a "Buildwave" STEM workshop for kids in grades K-7! Buildwave is a creative building program that feels like a video game! Over the course of this workshop, students create with over a dozen different building materials including "Lego" "PlusPlus" and custom-made Buildwave materials. The workshop is structured like a video game, with an audiovisual setup featuring animations and music that guide students through the different building waves.

Ring in the New Year at noon! You and a special stuffed animal friend are invited to celebrate with us from 10-12. Tickets include access to our 14 different exhibits, special New Year’s crafts, games, and dancing. We will end the party with a countdown to noon and a ball drop! Kids will go home with a small goody bag of New Year's treats.

Tickets to this special event are $15/person for non-members and $5/person for NSCM members. Tickets are available online now while supplies last.

Come and build Legos with us at NSCM! With TONS of Legos available, come and build your creations. This will be a casual club where all participants can follow whatever direction their engineering intuition takes them, we will not be teaching how to make specific models. Recommended for ages 4+, with siblings always welcome.

Winter Lights on Cape Ann

The Annual Winter Lights on Cape Ann is a festive event celebrating the holiday season, running from late November through New Year's Day. Over 100 local businesses in Gloucester, Essex, Ipswich, Manchester-by-the-Sea, and Rockport are participating by decorating their storefronts with lights and creative displays. A decorating contest is back by popular demand, allowing visitors to vote for their favorite decorated business in each of the five communities.
