The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), hosts its fifth annual ASL day, a celebration of Deaf culture welcoming members of the Deaf community and friends. Coinciding with National Deaf History Month, the program includes American Sign Language tours, performances by DEAFinitely Dance, art-making kits and more. The day's activities are presented in partnership with Boston Deaf Night Out (DNO) and Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Free admission for all. All events are free. Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by surrounding yourself with art, culture, and community. Enjoy free admission all day long at the MFA’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Open House. There’s an array of vibrant, engaging, and collaborative programming scheduled throughout the day for all ages and abilities, presented in the spirit of Dr. King.
Barnyard stories really come to life when you get to see the main characters in real life! Bring the kids down to Appleton Farms for our farm fresh version of story time. Explore the farmstead, visit our learning garden, see our cows and rabbits, and find a spot to play under a shady tree in our stone paddock. Gather around for a farm story with one of our farmers! The program begins at 10:30am and a story will be read at 11:15am. This event is appropriate for infants – 4-year-old children.
This is a great opportunity for dads (uncles, grandfathers, cousins or other father figures) to spend time with their kids! Come to the Sawyer Free Library with the kids for a storytime filled with songs, stories,snacks and fun! Great for kids aged 2-6 (siblings are welcome). Moms and siblings welcome to attend.
You spent the summer watching them flit about your gardens, now it’s time to wish them well on their trip down to Mexico – it’s the Monarch Migration Celebration at Stevens-Coolidge Place! This celebration will kick off with a children’s pollinator parade around the property (costumes encouraged!) bringing all visitors to an afternoon of demos, crafts & stories, seed bomb making and gardening tips to bring these orange friends to your yard in the spring.
Butterfly release at 2:30pm
When it's warm and sunny, it's butterfly weather! Come sing and read stories about butterflies in the gardens with your friends at The Stevens-Coolidge Place. We'll play in the lawn, act out the caterpillar life cycle and end the morning with a hunt for monarch caterpillars and chrysalis munching away on our milkweed in the gardens. This program is best suited for children 2 to 5 years old. Pre-Registration is encouraged.
Goddard School in Middleton is hosting a spootacular Halloween event. Goddard families will decorate their cars and fill their trunks with candy right here in the Goddard School parking lot. Guests and friends are welcome with a bag of candy as your donation to our event. Join us for a day of fun and games.
The Trustees of Reservations invite you to Ravenswood Park to meet Elsa at their Pre-K Winter Story Time by the Woodstove! Free if you become a member at the program. Come to the school at 10:00 AM on the first Thursday of each month for a Toddler/ Preschool aged treat. Each Story Hour will feature one of our teachers reading a few of their favorite children’s books, conducting an activity (usually related to the story) and providing a healthy snack for the children.
