Kids in the Kitchen: Bread and Butter Making

Kids will learn to make farm fresh bread and butter at Appleton Farms in Ipswich, MA

Cooking together and having fun in the kitchen makes our farm family happy and we want to share that enthusiasm for cooking with you. We will make homemade rolls and top them with freshly made Jersey butter. We will learn about how our cows turn green grass to creamy, nutritious milk, then enjoy the sweet fruits of our labor together.

Summer Solstice Yoga Hike at Ward

Join HER Wellness & The Trustees to celebrate the summer solstice at Ward Reservation! Participants will enjoy hiking up to the solstice stones to practice an all-levels yoga flow under the sunset and glowing moon. There, we will embrace the sun reaching its highest peak and welcome the fruitful summer upon us, both inside and out! Handcrafted herbal tea and bath salts created for the astrological moment will be provided, along with self-care tips for the summer season.

Appleton Farms’ Preschool Farm Explorers

Farm Explorers is a great way for preschoolers to explore Appleton Farms in ipswich Massachusetts!

Spring is here, the plants are blooming, and the farmers are busy! We invite your little farmers to experience life at the farm as they explore the farmstead harvesting, hiking, and playing. Through farm “chores,” such as collecting eggs, brushing rabbits, and other age appropriate hands on activities, stories, and adventures, little farmers will become fully immersed in what life is like for a farmer. Each session will last 1 hour and will have a different theme such as “what plants need to grow.”

Mother’s Day Weekend Crafting Workshop

Craft a Mother's Day gift at Appleton Farms in Ipswich Massachusetts

Come to Appleton on the Saturday before Mother’s Day and make your own gifts for all the moms in your life. Or, bring mom with you and make them together! We’ll have a selection of local artisans teaching visitiors how to make a variety of crafts and you will get to take home one from each.

Farmhouse Culinary Workshop: Focaccia

Focaccia Culinary Workshop at The Trustees of Reservations Appleton Farms in Ipswich Massachusetts

Is there anything better than good focaccia? In this workshop, participants will learn the necessary skills to mix, shape, proof and bake this classic Italian staple. We will discuss and explore a variety of seasonal toppings, including tips and tricks to get a fluffy focaccia that is also packed with flavor. The main secrets? Stoneground local flour and technique! Class will end with warm focaccia to share and dough to take home.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to make a fluffy, rich quiche using seasonal vegetables from the farm and local dairy from our partners. Learn the secrets to a sturdy crust and a perfectly set interior. Class will end with quiche to share and a recipe packet to take home!

Mothers Day Brunch Picnic and Lilac Festival

Come enjoy the fantastic lilace display in the gardens and a Mother's Day Brunch at the Trustees of Reservations Stevens-Coolidge Place.

Get outside with your family this Mother’s Day and celebrate Mom with a picnic at The Stevens-Coolidge Place surrounded by the peak of lilac season. Enjoy live music by Julianne and Barry Johnston of the Brookline Music School. Explore the garden with your little ones. Play croquet, bocce, ring toss, and other lawn games that will be set up throughout the garden. Take a family photo among the beautiful gardens.
