There's a lot going on in the natural world in winter, so bundle up the family and join us for an outdoor exploration! This walk will begin with a short introduction indoors, and then we'll go outside to explore. What birds visit your house in winter? We'll walk the trails looking, listening, and calling for birds. After our hike, we'll return to the Nature Center to warm up and view birds from our observation window.
The folks at Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary have created an owling expedition just for kids aged 3-6! Winter is the perfect time of year to go out in search of owls. We'll learn about these fascinating birds through a story and hands-on activities before we head out on our adventure to look for them. Afterwards, we'll warm up by the woodstove with a cup of hot chocolate and cookies.
This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, outdoor exploration, and a thematic snack. When it's time to go home, you'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list via e-mail. At this ISL, we'll learn to identify tracks in the snow and the creatures that leave them behind!

Wenham Museum has a special New Year's Eve celebration planned just for kids and families! Join us at the Wenham Museum for our annual New Year’s Eve Countdown to Midnight for families. We will have lot of fun family activities with a Ginger-ale Toast at 12 Noon. Reservations are highly recommended. Everyone age one year old and up, needs a ticket for this program. The museum is only open for this event and will not be open for general museum visits.
Even in the middle of winter, nature is a very busy “place!” Though you may not see them, there are an amazing variety of critters going about their business, outdoors, all winter long. What you cansee are the tracks and other sign that they leave behind.Participants in this program will be able to explore a typically closed area to look for clues that paint a picture of “who was here” and “what they were doing.” Participants should meet the ranger on the deck of the visitor contact station on the refuge at parking lot 1. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early. This program is appropriate for people of all ages and skill sets.

Sawyer Free Library invites kids and families to celebrate the Holidays at a Harry Potter themed party during the Middle Street Walk 2019! Come for a jolly journey around the Wizarding World! It will be a Happy Holiday at Hogsmeade as we sample butterbeer, as well as many more activities such as wand-making, the sorting hat, a photo booth, family trivia, crafts, and more!
