Hands Across the Sand + Cleanup at Stage Fort Park

Come to Stage Fort PArk in Gloucester for a Community cleanup effort to preserve this wonderful local resource!

Stage Fort Park is one of the most visited spaces in Gloucester, and for good reason. It's beautiful and it provides fields, playground and tables for everyone to enjoy. To protect this incredible resource, we need to do our part. This Hands Across the Sand event and cleanup will bring people together to oppose new offshore drilling and other fossil fuel development and promote a clean energy future! We will gather just before noon for a non-hand holding lineup photo along the shore in solidarity with people around the globe on this day, calling for an end to offshore drilling! We look forward to seeing you out there.

Focaccia Culinary Workshop at The Trustees of Reservations Appleton Farms in Ipswich Massachusetts

Is there anything better than good focaccia? In this workshop, participants will learn the necessary skills to mix, shape, proof and bake this classic Italian staple. We will discuss and explore a variety of seasonal toppings, including tips and tricks to get a fluffy focaccia that is also packed with flavor. The main secrets? Stoneground local flour and technique! Class will end with warm focaccia to share and dough to take home.

Get outside with your family this Mother’s Day and celebrate Mom with a picnic at The Stevens-Coolidge Place surrounded by the peak of lilac season. Enjoy live music by Julianne and Barry Johnston of the Brookline Music School. Explore the garden with your little ones. In honor of Earth Day, raptor rehabilitator and educator Jane Kelly, of On the Wing, will present a live raptor program in the refuge visitor center auditorium.  Audience members will have a very special opportunity to view a variety of live birds of prey, while Jane provides an overview of their natural history.  Space is limited for this program and preregistration is required.  Send an email to parkerriver@fws.gov and write “raptor program” on the subject line.  P
