Now in its 31st year, this one mile road race, occurring during Newburyport's Historic Yankee Homecoming Festival, features 4 heats including a children's heat with medals for all the little finishers! Cash prizes for overall and age group winners! There will be snacks and beverages at the finish line and beer tickets for a free beer and post race viewing party at the Winner's Circle Sport's Bar post race! The goal of this race is not to achieve the fastest time, it's survival! Runners will follow the designated course while encountering a terrifying array of the finest Zombies Salem has to offer! Runners will be wearing a flag belt, similar to the ones worn in flag football. The zombies will try to grab the flags off the belt, which ‘kills’ the runner. Once a runner looses all three of their flags, they are ‘dead’. Dead runners will still finish the course and will receive a medal, and anyone who has any flags left after they finish are ‘alive’ and will receive a medal with a “survivor” ribbon attached.
Imagine the excitement of 100 cyclists racing around the Salem Common at over 30 miles per hour. Join us for the 35th anniversary of The Witches Cup and an afternoon of exciting racing. Then stop by our hospitality tent hosted by Wachusett Brewing Company - also featuring great food from Salem's favorite restaurants.
