I recently had the opportunity to tour PEM's newest exhibit Santa at Salem Common and left with a whole new perception of Native Americans as individual artists in their own right. As a child and growing up I remember native art being presented more as 'craft' than art - possibly because it was not made as art, but as something to be used - a basket, a blanket, a beaded headdress, a tomahawk. PEM has changed all that with this exhibit.

This family program is fun for all ages and is free to the public.
Kids are invited to tthe Cape Ann Museum for two-hour "hands-on" class, where students will use a variety of artistic media to explore a central theme. During this open studio, kids will focus on the art of sculpture. This program is free and open to the public.

What we never knew was that fluff is a product native to the North Shore and has been made in Lynn at the same factory since 1929. The Talent Conquest TV Show will be producing the ZOMBIE DANCE "Thriller" Re Enactment as part of the B&S Fitness Devil's Chase 6.66 Runners on Saturday 10/26/11. This is a benefit for the Plummer Home for Boys in Salem, MA. Debra Crosby will MC the ZOMBIE DANCE reenactment of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" to give the Devil's Chase 6.66 runners a little entertainment.

As the saying goes, you get more with honey than with vinegar. Having taught both children and adults for the past 13 years, I have learned that I can easily use my authority to get a student to make short term changes in behavior, however, only my influence will make them want to institute these changes for the long term. These long term changes are going to help the student feel successful, not only in their training, but also in their life outside of the school.
