Join us to celebrate the winter solstice by slowing down during this busy season and enjoying the silence of night as we walk quietly together. We will meet in the Old House (Farm Offices) to first create our own lantern. Then experience a traditional spiral walk, light up the darkest night of the year with your lantern, and send off a wish as we welcome the returning of the light. Best for adults & older children. Cookies and cocoa will be available while we decorate our lanterns. Please dress to be outside.
Sawyer Free Library invites kids and families to celebrate the Holidays at a Harry Potter themed party during the Middle Street Walk 2019! Come for a jolly journey around the Wizarding World! Join Hammond Castle Museum as they host Gloucester High School Theater Program's very special performance of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play.” Based on the classic holiday movie with a clever twist thrown in: the story is staged as a live radio broadcast. Actors portray numerous characters, and sound effects are done through Foley tricks.
For the first time in years, Hammond Castle will be open to the public to celebrate the holiday season! The Museum will be open for self guided tours beginning Saturday December 7th through Friday December 20th from 10:00am to 3:00pm daily (except for Sunday December 15th when the Museum is closed for an event) with the last tickets sold at 2:30pm. We have invited local community groups and businesses to sponsor a room and decorate it and trim a tree! You won’t want to miss this opportunity to visit during the most festive time of year.

ECTA is holding its Thanks for the Trails 5k and Kids Fun Run the day after Thanksgiving at Patton Park in Hamilton. Using a scenic and challenging course and offering great prizes, this will be an event for all! In addition to cash (or gift certificates) for top finishers, and many other terrific prizes, there will be cash prizes for the teams (co-ed) with the most runners and that have the best score (on a traditional XC scoring basis). TWe are building on the fine tradition enjoyed by so many for the last 10 years with Gabe's Run, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Gabe's Fund. Whether you seek a personal record or camaraderie with old friends and rivals, this event is for you!
If you don't eat too much pie on Thanskgiving, you're not doing it right. Work off your feast and spend time together outside with a brisk hike through the dunes trails behind Crane Beach. The cool air, stark beauty, and natural stillness are a much better way to spend your day than braving the lines at the mall!
