Essex Shipbuilding Museum invites families to the the Fall Festival in the Shipyard. This family friendly event is a great introduction to Essex culture. Join us in the Historic Shipyard for food, drinks, games, craft stations, and the Apple Armada, apple boat race! This FREE event is open to all!

Did you know the famous painting The Spirit of '76 painting resides at Abbot Hall in Marblehead? Have some family fun at Marblehead’s historic Abbot Hall! The Marblehead Historical Commission has released a scavenger hunt that takes visitors of all ages through the first and second floors of Abbot Hall searching for objects that represent Marblehead history. It’s interesting to walk through the town hall, built in 1876, to find many objects that help us understand the past.

Enjoy a self-guided walking tour of the 24th Annual Outdoor Sculpture at Maudslay Exhibit September 10 through October 1 featuring 50 site specific sculptures by local artists addressing this year’s theme, ‘Fracture' within the magnificence of Maudslay State Park in Newburyport. Look for the large green trail head signs featuring sculpture locations and instructions for downloading our simple phone app which will include the sculpture locations, photos, and artist statements.
STEAM story time for children ages 6-10 incorporates science concepts with stories and activities. This month, join us to dig into what fossils are and how they are found! We will use tools like shovels, paint brushes, and tweezers to excavate our own dig sites. Be ready for a dino-mite story time!

Every year the International Festival attracts thousands of people with live music, artists, and food inspired from around the world lining the streets from Main down to the Square. Kids activities will happening at East End Veterans Memorial Park on Walnut Street with music, activities, games, and more.
Discover Salem’s Golden Age of Sail as you uncover clues! Celebrate America’s Maritime History! The Ladies of Salem will have you looking up at whimsical and beautifully designed figureheads gracing lampposts downtown. “What is a figurehead ?” you may ask? It’s a large carved wooden decorative three dimensional representation of a person, animal or mythical creature located at the bow (forward part) of a sailing ship. They were thought to bring good luck as the “eyes” of the ship. Each “Lady” has a unique story to tell. Enjoy your journey!
Walk the trails to see the handcrafted houses at this year’s enchanted Fairy House Festival. Cast your People’s Choice Award vote for your favorite Fairy House. Stay awhile for magical fun, arts and crafts, food, raffles, live music, and more. Rain or shine. Anyone is welcome to submit a house. Donations collected at the Festival are reinvested back into the Park.
