Parker River National Wildlife Refuge is calling on all youth, grades K to 12, to help spread the word about the importance of beaches to shorebirds by entering the Refuge’s Annual Shorebird Youth Art Contest. While most locals know about the annual beach closure at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge for nesting piping plovers, many visitors do not pay attention to the “Area Closed” signs posted at the boundaries.  By turning youth art into informational signs to educate visitors about shorebirds, the Refuge aims to provide the best experience for beachgoers and shorebirds alike.

Science and Art collide for the 2017 Marine Art Contest hosted by the Massachusetts Marine Educators and Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary! Kids in grades K-12 are invited to submit entries in this year's contest themed 'Marine Biodiversity of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary'.  Spread the word to teachers, homeschoolers, other students, and parents about this wonderful opportunity to learn and teach others with art!

Come to the Abbot Public Library May 9 – June 2 to step into Marblehead's own version of the Van Gogh's Starry Night. This inspired theme will be the backdrop for this year’s Marblehead High School's Annual Senior Art Show. The show will exhibit different media, from photographs to busts to paintings, all created by the students of the class of 2016. Many of the pieces have won awards in art competitions and are truly spectacular to look upon. The opening night reception will be on Monday, May 16, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Abbot's art gallery.

Maritime Gloucester has a wonderful exhibit on display through Monday where you can have an underwater experinece while staying dry!  Artist Camilla MacFayden organized and produced the Stock the Tank exhibit using printed material created by members of her collography workshop this Summer.
