PlumFest is a community-driven project to bring local musicians, island residents and visitors together to showcase the natural beauty and artistry that make Plum Island such a special place. As an early participant in the “porch-fest” movement that is gaining popularity nation-wide, PlumFest brings our own unique flavor to the mix, with an event that is sure to please.
NBPT Cornhole and the Merrimack River Watershed Council present the 1st Annual "Save Our River Festival". This event will take place at the outdoor pavilion of the Newburyport Elks, and will feature a Giant Cornhole Tournament, BBQ, a cash bar, live music, an art show, games and more. This will be a family friendly event for all ages, and will help to raise money for the Merrimack River Watershed Council (MWRC).
Join the park interpreter for a moderately paced walk to view different areas of the park and experience the changes at Maudslay over the spring, summer and fall. Rain or shine. For ages 6 and up. Wear walking shoes, and bug spray is recommended.
Maudslay State Park has created this program for their youngest crowd! For the young set that loves nature, the park interpreter will lead a three-part preschool aged program that includes a Story, Craft & Walk that involves outdoor exploration. A different nature topic each week so come every week! Rain or shine. Wear appropriate walking shoes, sunscreen and bring water.
Come help clean the beach at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and Plum Island! This is a community effort to help clean up the Refuge beach and raise awareness about beach litter. On National Public Lands Day, help wildlife by picking up harmful trash on the refuge beach.

Enjoy a self-guided walking tour of the 22nd Annual Outdoor Sculpture at Maudslay Exhibit September 12 through October 2 featuring 50 site specific sculptures by local artists addressing this year’s theme, ‘Reach’ within the magnificence of Maudslay State Park in Newburyport. Look for the large green trail head signs featuring sculpture locations and instructions for downloading our simple phone app which will include the sculpture locations, photos, and artist statements.
The Custom House is celebrating Essex National Heritage Area’sTrails & Sails 2021 on Saturday, with a Revolutionary War Militia Muster on the back green. This reenactment event will highlight Newburyport’s role in the American Revolution. Visit our back lawn to see Captain John Wood’s Company, Colonel Gerrish’s 25th Regiment of the Massachusetts Grand Army. The group will interpret a unit that was raised in Newbury, Massachusetts in 1775, as well as Virginia riflemen who stopped in Newburyport on their way to Arnold’s Expedition to Canada.
