For three days, this annual family friendly art festival transforms downtown Salem into an opportunity for the arts community to showcase their talents. The popular free event will feature many artists and performers, and includes a variety of art, music, dance, and theatre performances. The family-friendly festival also includes art-making for all ages, artisan vendors selling their creations, and a temporary public art installation.
The Salem Jazz and Soul Festival has always been about bringing great music to the people of Salem, so we are bringing the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival downtown this year with a special one day event at Salem Willows Park. Enjoy live performances, vendors market, educational workshops, and more!
From February 1 through March 15, Cradles to Crayons®, the Boston Bruins, Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and Wonderfund are coming together with organizations in your community to collect new pajamas for local children living in low-income and homeless situations. This years' goal is to collect 10,000 pairs of pajamas. By supporting us with a PJ Drive, you will directly supply new pajamas to the children who need them most so they can stay warm for a good night’s sleep. Salem Main Streets is pleased to announce the return of the Salem Winter Market!! A seasonal extension of the Salem Farmers’ Market, this year’s Salem Winter Market will take place inside the Old Town Hall located a 32 Derby Square, in Salem.
Salem Public Library the library is hosting weekly chess nights where players of all ages can play and learn from each other. Whether you're new to the game or a veteran player, all skill levels welcome, and basic instruction will be provided. Pizza will also be provided! Open to all ages.
The Trustees host live owl presentations by Marcia and Mark Wilson of Eyes On Owls. Meet 6 live owls up close and personal! By sharing photos, stories, and live owl demonstrations, the Wilsons highlight our local owls’ unique adaptations, habitats and behaviors in the wild, while sharing tips on how you can look and listen for owls yourself. And everyone gets to practice the owls’ calls during the hooting lessons!
It's a Teen Afternoon! On Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 2:30-3:30 PM, come make your own chocolate treats! Learn about the history of chocolate, play some games, and make your own tasty treats! All supplies provided. Space is limited.
