Trails & Sails 2018

Explore the North Shore with over 150 Free Events in Essex National Heritage Area's Trails & Sails celebration.

Essex National Heritage Area sites will offer over 150 free family fun events over the weekends of September 21-23 and September 28-30, 2018 for the annual celebration of TRAILS & SAILS. Participants can hike, bike, paddle, stroll or sail through the region and Essex National Heritage Area will provide a passport to fun and adventure. It’s all FREE and it’s all located within the 34 cities and towns of Essex County.

The Topsfield Fair is a perennial favorite for us.  We're not the biggest fans of the midway, although it is always worth a walkthrough and a ride or two.  We love fruits and vegetables, and are always on the lookout for the winning 'biggest pumpkin'.  Another favorite is checking out the pigs and other farm animals, as well as the interesting variety of guinea pigs and rabbits.

American Music & Harvest Festival

An afternoon of family fun - The American Harvest and Music Festival at Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury Massachusetts!

Enjoy a day of traditional music, baseball, and farm activities featuring New Orleans brass band, bluegrass, rock, funk, jazz, and beyond.! Watch Vintage Base Ball played by 1861 rules. See tractors and other farm equipment spanning the last eighty years. Try your hand at corn husking and win prizes at the pie-eating contest.

Essex Shipbuilding Museum invites families to the the Essex Festival in the Shipyard.
